I'M A HEAVY DRINKER

CONFESSION, I LOVE TO DRINK!

Yes I admit it.  I love a good cold one and I dont reserve myself to just one drink.  Some may say I drink too much, but I don't care.  Sometimes, I drink about 8 tall ones a day.

Relax, Im talking about water of course.  Water is essential for the optimum performance of every cell in the body.

Suggestions vary on how much water you should consume each day but an easy way to remember is to go by the 8x8 rule. 8 glasses of 8 ounces. Drink more if you are outside in hot weather or exercising.

Other fluids count but try to get into the habit of drinking just plain water instead of empty calorie sweetened beverages.

THE BACKUP PLAN

I CONFESS! I CONFESS!  I ATE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE THIS PAST WEEKEND.

Once I started the downhill turn, I couldn’t seem to stop.

I don’t know what got into me.  Ok, ok yes I do.  I was in the store hungry and the peanut butter Twix in the bright red package kept calling my name.  “Nancy, Nancy, where have you been? It’s been so long since I’ve seen you.” I gave in, bought it and devoured it.

Why did I do this you ask?   It’s because I did not eat a balanced meal in the morning and was craving for anything quick and convenient to satisfy me.  I was in a hurry and didn’t have a backup plan.

For this very reason, it’s good to always have a meal plan and keep a stash of quick convenient healthy snacks as a backup for those on the go times when you don’t have time to sit down for a meal.  A handful of nuts, fruit, carrots and celery, Greek yogurt or a smoothie are just some examples of healthy snacks.

There is no quick fix to being healthy; it’s a lifestyle.

I WAS ADDICTED

I have a confession. I am a recovered addict.

I am not ashamed to admit this and I am very proud to say that I have been clean (well pretty much), for many years now.

What was my drug of choice you ask? Well I was hooked on the white stuff... sugar.

I would crave it all hours of the day. To make things worse it is in just about everything I would eat. Hidden with names like high fructose corn syrup. It was in my cereal, my ketchup, salad dressings, spaghetti sauce, everything.

So how did I kick the habit? It wasn't easy but I changed how I ate. I got rid of processed foods with hidden sugars and began eating whole foods; fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats, nuts.

Then my cravings gradually disappeared and now I control when and what I eat. It doesn't control me.

IS IT TOO LATE TO CONFESS?

I confess; I am a procrastinator.

I know it’s not a good habit and I keep telling myself that I am going to change my ways but I just keep well, putting it off!

I don’t know why I wait to the last minute to do some things.  It’s usually some mediocre task, or sometimes it’s something I feel is so big that I just try and avoid getting started altogether.  Sometimes I just need someone to give me a push.  Funny thing is, once I’m done not only do I feel a great sense of satisfaction, but also I realize all the fuss I made was wasted energy.

Same thing goes for the people I train.  Sometimes I have to give someone an extra push to get them going. Then they come dragging into the gym seemingly dreading what’s to come only to leave with a big smile and great sense of accomplishment.  Never once has anyone told me that they regretted the workout.

When it comes to exercising, having someone to hold you accountable can help keep you from falling off track.  So if you’re thinking about getting back in shape but need some accountability I am here to help.  I will be with you every step of the way and I won’t let you down.  You just have to take that first step and make that commitment.  Don’t put it off any longer.   Join my team.

You won’t regret it.
